Shamaine is a Licensed Counselling Therapist – Candidate with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. As an African-American immigrant, she brings both professional expertise and lived experience to her work with couples. She understands firsthand how identity, culture, race, migration, and belonging can shape the way we show up in our relationships — the ways we communicate, connect, conflict, and grow together.

Shamaine creates a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where both partners can show up as their authentic selves. She supports couples navigating communication breakdowns, intimacy concerns, trust and infidelity recovery, conflict patterns, blended-family and co-parenting transitions, and the identity and belonging questions that arise when two lives, cultures, and histories meet. Her approach is client-centred, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive, grounded in the belief that each partner is the expert in their own experience.

By integrating evidence-based and experiential practices with genuine empathy and cultural humility, Shamaine fosters a therapeutic relationship that supports healing, reconnection, and resilience — within each partner and between them. She welcomes couples from all backgrounds and is committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Together, Shamaine works alongside partners to deepen mutual understanding, strengthen their bond, and create meaningful, lasting change in their relationship.
